How To Set Voicemail On Non-Supported Carriers

Few of Carriers out there still not support for IPhone Voicemail function. Instead of dialing manually the Voicemail number you can create a short-cut button or auto-dial a preset number that connects you to your Voicemail service. So this how to do it:

  • Go to the dial screen on your IPhone and dial the following code and then press CALL button
*5005*86* Your Carrier voicemail number #

I'm using Celcom as my network provider so my Voicemail number is 1313:

*5005*86*1313#

Once you've press CALL button it will set your Voicemail number into iPhone memory. So next time to hear your Voicemail message you just need to click on Phone Icon ---> Voicemail button and it will auto-dial your voicemail number.

iPhone MMS (SwirlyMMS or Flutter)

When I first bought my iPhone (2G) I felt so disappointed because it cannot send MMS like my Nokia N-95.
This shows that iPhone is missing a lot of things that we are all expect from the modern now a days mobile phone. In other words in my first impression iPhone is just another "fashion" phone instead of features phone :-(

So.. how to solve this problem? Well of cause there have lots of 3rd party software out there which could offer to solve this problem like flutter for example. Erm.. I like SwirlyMMS most compare with Flutter because SwirlyMMS do support on most of Network worldwide. Currently I'm using Maxis postpaid (Malaysia Network) and SwirlyMMS is able to find the MMS setting automatically so I don't have to do manual setting on SwirlyMMS.

Since SwirlyMMS is not listed in Apt Store at the moment therefore you must download the software via Cydia. The advantage of using this software is that it give you 7days trial and if you're happy with it then you can pay a small amount of $8.00 to buy the full license and it will be unlimited usage. Cool huh? Compare with Flutter unfortunately you have to pay small amount of $0.99 but again it doesn't give option of free trial and furthermore it use a huge amount of Data/Edge connection to send the msg. Therefore I prefer to use SwirlyMMS :-).

Disable iPhone GPRS/Data/Edge

Hi guys... wow it's been a while I didn't update this blog. It must full with dust and spider web already.. hehehe.

Alright.. This time I found out there is an alternative method how to disable data/edge connection for Iphone 2G or 3G. It is very simple and you don't have to install any program at all. Yup yup you hear me right.. No need to install any program like the previous post. It's like 1-2-3... a-b-c...Here is how to do it.

  1. Go to Setting
  2. General
  3. Network
  4. Choose the first option i.e. Cellular Data Network
  5. Key-in all the Advanced setting (APN, Username & Password) as "disable".

By doing this it will not allowed any Data connection via your network. If you surf internet via Safari.. You will only have access using Wifi. However if you leave all these blank then Iphone is able to get data connection automatically so that's how to turn "on" the data/edge connection.

Am using Iphone 2G ver 2.2 and I believe it would be the same for Iphone 3G.

Disable Iphone Data/Edge (2G Iphone)

For those who don't have unlimited data plan, you might have to think twice to pay for the data connection when you're out of Wifi coverage area. Sure you don't want to be in shock to see your bill later on... huhuhu. .

I'm a new user for this Mac product and was lucky to notice this problem :-p
okeh... instead of calling the local network provider to cancel the Edge/data plan you can just install this little software to block or disable iPhone from downloading or uploading data. In other words data connection can only be downloaded or uploaded using Wifi connection only.

Here is how you disable it:
1. Launch Safari on your iPhone
2. Go to http://iphonenodata.com
3. Tap the disable Edge/3G button
4. Tap Install
5. Tap Install Now to Confirm.

wasn't that easy??

Create Free Ringtones for Iphone

When I’m using my Nokia N-95 or any other phone, cool ring tones is a must. I would say on every month I will change the ring tones.

It could be Malay or English ring tones.   Well most of the time it will be English ringtones heheheh.

Iphone is a bit tricky when choosing the Ringtones. It can’t just select from the mp3 collection same like Nokia’s phone. This is because it use .m4r format.

Well here is a little guide on how to make your own ringtones using just Itunes. Simple and of cause it’s FREE!!!

  1. Open the iTunes (currently I’m using ver 8.0.2)
  2. Choose the song (mp3/AAC) you would like to turn into a ringtone.
  3. Right click on the song and choose get info
  4. Choose the “Option” tab
  5. Check both the “Start Time” and “End Time” boxes
  6. Specify what time interval you would like to use as your ringtones clip (I would suggest 30secs this work best)
  7. Click on “OK” button
  8. You have to ensure the song you had choose is still highlighted
  9. Click on “Advanced” menu
  10. Choose “Create aac version
  11. Now this will crate a duplicate copy of the song that you’ve choose just now and it will appear in iTunes. It the same filename but it has shorter time frame of cause
  12. Drag this duplicate song to your Desktop or anywhere that you want to save it. Once done you may delete the one in iTunes
  13. Go back to your Desktop or the folder that you’ve copied the duplicate file. Rename the file with the “.m4r” file extension
  14. Drag this file over the iTunes Library.
  15. Ok the last step is to Sync your iPhone with your new iPhone ringtones!!!!

Wasn’t this is simple? The con about iPhone is that it could only play rintones for about 40sec. I’ve tried to Sync m4r file which had longer than 40sec but failed L

My Iphone

Yessss... Finally I got my own Iphone. After soo long waited for the price drop which I don't think so. hahahhah. Before this I use Nokia N-95 which still my favourite but due to some functionality of N-95 I move to Iphone. There have pros and cons for both of these phone of cause.  Anyway it's too early for me to say anything at this point. Give me sometimes I'll post that Pros and Cons later :-)
